Japanese whaling is legal. It has basis in Article VIII of the ICRW. The Southern Ocean is not the property of Australia. Antarctica has no government and belongs to no country. Australia must observe international law.

Japanese citizens - take care in Australia
日本人は豪州で気をつけて
http://david-in-tokyo.blogspot.com/20...This beer advertisement demonstrates that the Australian authorities need to tone down their emotional anti-whaling rhetoric, and be very very careful to monitor the situation and not themselves contribute towards incitement of racially based violence on Australian soil. In light of this distasteful campaign, were I Japanese I would be extremely careful about myself if I were in Australia over the coming summer, whether that be at the pub or down on the beach. The combination of alcohol and the hysteria in Australia surrounding the whaling issue makes me extremely fearful of the possibility of racially motivated violence being born out of this situation.
It was only last year that Sydney experienced major riots related to racial tension.

The Dingo is on brink of extinction and now listed on the IUCN Red List as Vulnerable. There are small pockets of pure dingoes left in only some areas, but they remain a species listed as agricultural pests, so farmers destroy them. The dingo population has been severely threatened by the widespread eradication regimes such as poisoning, shooting, trapping and habitat loss. Dingoes are not dogs. They have always been a wild canine. Pure dingoes, like wolves, are still locked in genetically to annual breeding seasons. Australia holds the world record for mammal extinctions. It would be an abomination if dingoes were added to this list. Australia is now ranked the 4th highest in the world for the extinction of native species.

Millions of kangaroos are killed for their meat and skins every year. Australian government has allowed the kangaroo slaughter to continue on the pretext of drought. The kangaroo meat and skins industry is putting kangaroos under threat by killing a large percentage of females. Allowing kangaroo meat and skins to be sold in the world would threaten the species' existence. Kangaroo populations have been dwindling and are now the lowest they have been in more than a decade. An increased demand for kangaroo meat and skins will further jeopardize Australia's dwindling kangaroo populations. Just like dogs, cats, and whales, kangaroos feel pain and suffer and deserve to be protected from needless suffering and death. Protests in Australia against the kangaroo slaughter have been ignored. Zoologists worry that the kangaroo may become extinct in some areas if the slaughter is not ended very soon.
